There are a handful of FF7 Rebirth grinding spots that are fantastic for EXP and AP farming. While you don’t necessarily need to grind in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you may want to earn more skill points, have an edge in combat, and improve materia to gain access to better spells and higher stats. Since you may want to grind at different points of the game, we have a recommendation for each of the six regions. Here’s a list of the best farming spots throughout FF7 Rebirth for experience points and materia levelling.
What are the best FF7 Rebirth grinding spots for EXP and AP?
The following six locations are the best grinding spots in FF7 Rebirth for earning XP and AP. All of them are fiend battles, since defeating them provides a solid amount of both XP and AP, and you can retry the battles over and over again without needing to travel anywhere.
- Grasslands Region – Fiend Intel 5: Picky Eater, 976 XP and 24 AP, Lvl 19 Aggrevrikon x 2
- Junon Region – Fiend Intel 3: Scorched Earth, 1120 EXP and 12 AP, Lvl 22 Lavalisk x 4
- Corel Region – Fiend Intel 2: Seahorsing Around, 1976 EXP and 24 AP, Lvl 26 Heliopora Terpsicolt x 4
- Gongaga Region – Fiend Intel 2: Mean Green Mother, 1998 EXP and 18 AP, Lvl 32 Brumeflower x 3
- Cosmo Canyon Region – Fiend Intel 2: Fury Takes Flight, 2868 EXP and 18 AP, Lvl 37 Drohdroh
- Nibel Region – Fiend Intel 2: Gluttonous Devourer for 3152 EXP and 12 AP, Lvl 41 Carnifex x 4
We chose these specific Fiend Intel missions because the enemies aren’t difficult to defeat with any large area-of-effect spell. All of the numbers for EXP and AP above assume that you’re playing on Easy or Normal difficulty. Choosing Dynamic difficulty will typically increase the amount of EXP you earn, so it’s up to you how fast you want to grind and how deft you are at the combat system. (Also make sure that you have your full party present so that every character gains XP.)
Using the EXP Up and AP Up materia will double the amount of EXP you get and double the amount of AP for the materia you have attached to it. The Gil Up materia is also great for some easy money grinding if you need it.
For a benchmark, it took us about two and a half hours of killing Carnifex enemies to go from Level 50 to Level 70. We suggest using the First Strike and AP Boost materia combo to instantly get two bars on your chosen character at the beginning of a fight. We used Red XIII’s Stardust Ray to deal a lot of damage in a large radius and a high amount of stun, which increases ATB with the ATB Stagger materia. But you have other options too if you want to kill enemies quickly.
