Dragon's Dogma 2 DD2 Griffin Griffon Escape Flee Stop Chasing Flowering Kill

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Griffin Escape: How to Stop Griffin From Following and Chasing You

A safe Dragon’s Dogma 2 griffin escape is one of the first things many players will want to figure out. Reaching the capital city of Vermund is a part of the early game. However, sometimes a powerful griffin (or griffon) will hover above your party in the sky. It will chase you as you attempt to make your way there. You can face this boss down. However, it becomes clear in combat that this beast has an incredible amount of HP and attack strength. Running away doesn’t stop it from following you either and it can quickly become a nuisance. Here’s how to stop the griffin from chasing you in Dragon’s Dogma 2 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

How to escape from the Dragon’s Dogma 2 griffin

There are two ways to make a successful Dragon’s Dogma 2 griffin escape or to avoid the beast altogether:

  1. Use an oxcart – It’s not 100% guaranteed, but paying for an oxcart has a high chance of having your party make it to Vermund in one piece. It gives you a good chance of not having to face the griffin at all. If the cart gets raided, though, it’s possible that the griffin will swoop down in the middle of the fight. At that point, escape will be quite difficult.
  2. Hurt the griffin by dealing enough damage – Note that you don’t have to defeat the griffin outright. If you’re able to dish out enough damage, especially if you have access to fire attacks and spells, it’s possible that the griffin will simply choose to flee. It can be tempting to climb onto the griffin. However, we recommend staying on the ground as best as you can since the griffin can take you into the air. Since you can’t grab on forever, you’ll eventually be forced to drop from a considerable height to your doom.

If you’re forced to fight the griffin, we also suggest that you stay close to an oxcart or a random group of guards or pawns travelling along the road nearby. This will add NPCs to the fight. As a result, your party will have some breathing room as they distract and deal some damage to the boss. Hopefully, their assistance will lead to the griffin fleeing. This usually prevents it from attacking you for the rest of the in-game day at least, or even dying for once.
