New Dungeons & Dragons Game, Sword Coast Legends Announced

Almost out of nowhere, a new Dungeons & Dragons game entitled Sword Coast Legends is headed for release this year on PC. Digital Extremes, n-Space, and even Wizards of the Coast are collaborating on the project.

According to the official website, the game will be "set in the lush and vibrant world of the Forgotten Realms" with a single-player campaign that "brings the world of Faerûn home like never before." Appearing in line with Neverwinter Nights, it will also feature co-operative play for four players and one being slotted in as an optional but coveted Dungeon Master role. (I was a DM once. I should know.)

The Dungeon Master can help or hinder his fellow peons players; to what extent, we can only guess. But hopefully there will be some checks and balances or the game can just become a bunch of trolling.

The single-player campaign has been crafted by "the leadership team that brought you Dragon Age: Origins" and will give players the choice between five races and six character classes. It will be based on the 5th Edition ruleset.
