Final Fantasy XV’s “End Is in Sight,” Says Director

Hajime Tabata, the director on Final Fantasy XV, recently provided an update on the game's progress, noting that while the team may only be 60 percent complete, the "end is in sight."

In an interview with IGN, Tabata explained, "In some ways I’m being very conservative in my estimates there and not wanting to put out too big a number. Developing big games on a large scale like this… it’s not very even in terms of each area of the game being created, so you have uneven development processes where some things are nearly done, and others are still at prototype stage."

Fortunately, it sounds like Final Fantasy fans won't have to wait forever for more of their beloved franchise, as Tabata expects future development to proceed much more quickly. "There may be times where we move on with massive leaps and bounds, so the overall number shoots up by 10 percent at a time. I think we’re looking at a much faster development in the near future," he added.

Final Fantasy XV still does not yet have a release date, but I'd say it's likely we won't be playing the game from the comfort of our homes until sometime in 2016.
