Nintendo president and CEO Satoru Iwata has just announced the company is working on a brand-new dedicated game console. The device is codenamed NX, but aside from that little nugget of info, we know very little about the device.
However, that wasn't the only news the Big N decided to share today, as the company also announced it will be partnering with DeNA to bring a completely new membership service to Wii U, 3DS, smartphones, and its upcoming device NX.
On top of that, Nintendo also made the big announcement that it will finally be making games for smartphones. It's important to note, however, that we won't see old games ported to mobile devices. Instead Nintendo and DeNA will be creating completely new experiences that leverage the company's IP.
Expect to hear a whole lot more about Nintendo's mysterious new console NX in the coming year, as you can be sure 2015 is still going to be all about Wii U and 3DS. We still have a new Zelda and Xenoblade coming after all!
