Sitting at a desk as I must, glancing out a window while making telephone calls and scanning emails as I must, the work day was going normally. In bursts Tom, so enthusiastic about something or another that he's practically making me sweat.
"They're doing it!" he triumphantly declares. "Ubisoft is bringing Just Dance Kids 2 to North America on October 25th, 2011, THANK GOD!"
"But Tom," I inquire, "What does that mean?" Tom tells me that Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 users will all be able to play Just Dance Kids 2 via their respective motion controls. He is pumped that kids will be dancing to "Just The Way You Are". I'm like, yeah, OK. My eyebrows raise, however, when I find out that Just Dance Kids 2 also apparently includes some song called "Love Me" and "Whip My Hair." Now hold right the fuck on right there, friend. I don't know anything about the context of "Whip My Hair", but it does not sound like something kids should be doing, or that adults should be permitting.
I took a look at the song list and saw one called "Shake Your Groove Thing." Just what the hell is a Groove Thing and why are kids being asked to shake it? Shake it how? At whom? And when does it end? When?!
Our story ends with Tom cleaning out his desk. He's 48 and unemployed. I think he owns a Chrysler.
