Even though Konami plans to focus on mobile game development going forward, it hasn't given up on the console market entirely.
"Konami will continue to embrace the challenge of creating entertainment content via different platforms," company president Hideki Hayakawa told Nikkei (via GameSpot). "Not only mobile platforms, but for home consoles, arcade units, and cards, to meet the changing needs of the times."
A couple weeks ago, the Japanese publisher declared mobile "the future of gaming," unsurprisingly stirring up concern among hardcore console gamers. How Konami's renewed approach will affect the future of its properties—namely Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill—are up in the air at this point. Here's to hoping they aren't simply relegated to cheap mobile spin-offs.
