New Baldur’s Gate Expansion Announced

Yes, the main Baldur's Gate games are over a decade old, but that isn't stopping developer Beamdog from adding new content to Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition.

Earlier today Beamdog revealed Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear, a brand new expansion for the RPG franchise. It takes place between the first two games and adds approximately 25 hours of gameplay.

Siege of Dragonspear requires a copy of Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition to play. Fortunately the expansion allows players to import characters and save games from Enhanced Edition. Also, the Siege of Dragonspear save file can be exported to Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition.

The expansion touts a revamped user interface and more importantly a brand new class called the spirit-walking shaman. It also includes cross-platform multiplayer and a new difficulty mode for players who want to focus on the story.

Siege of Dragonspear comes out on PC, Mac, and Linux "soon," and iOS and Android versions will also be released in the near future.
