Cliffy B’s New Game Is Called LawBreakers

[Update] The folks over at Boss Key Productions have finally lifted the veil on their new game. What was previously codenamed Project Bluestreak is now officially titled LawBreakers.

According to studio boss Cliff Bleszinski on the game's livestream announcement broadcast, the game features two competing sides: law enforcement and criminals known as Breakers. In the game, players will be able to break the laws of gravity in a number of different ways, be it through the use of jetpacks, grappling hooks, or even manipulating the laws of nature by inverting gravity itself. As such, it goes without saying that the game will place an emphasis on verticality.

While LawBreakers will most definitely bear the marks of a typical arena shooter, Bleszinski also notes that it will offer plenty of variety for players to mess with, including different characters with their own unique abilities. To sum it up concisely, this competitive shooter is being built on three key pillars: gangs, guns, and gravity.

LawBreakers is slated for release sometime in 2016. What do you think of the game's unique concept?

[Original] It's no secret that Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski has been working on his "next big thing" ever since he announced his return to games two years ago. His new game, dubbed "Project Bluestreak," is currently in the works at his new studio Boss Key Productions, and is said to be some sort of free-to-play PC arena shooter

Fortunately, we don't have to wait much longer before we find out exactly what this new game is, as Bleszinski has taken to Twitter, teasing a formal announcement coming later this week.

The link in his post leads to the following site, which has a countdown timer that has just over two days left on it. Additionally, it looks like smaller reveals will be rolled out in the meantime, with new surprises coming at noon ET both today and tomorrow.

While the teaser site is called "The Shattering," don't be fooled, as the game's title is still tentatively Project Bluestreak. Something tells me that won't be the final name, so hopefully we'll get an official title this week, too.

About six months ago, Boss Key provided an update on how production was progressing, releasing a gorgeous pre-alpha teaser, which has been embedded below for your viewing pleasure.

Do you have any wild and crazy predictions as to what sort of direction Bleszinski is headed with this new shooter? Do you think it will make the same massive splash that Gears of War did nearly a decade ago?
