Excited for Star Wars Battlefront? Is the anticipation for DICE's upcoming sci-fi shooter becoming a bit too difficult to bear? Fear not, for Electronic Arts has announced that players will be able to test out the action through a beta that launches across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC early next month.
"Coming early October to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and on Origin for PC, the Star Wars Battlefront Beta is a technical test and will feature Walker Assault on Hoth, a 40-player multiplayer battle featuring Rebels and the Empire," EA detailed on the game's official site.
In addition to Walker Assault, the beta will also include a Tatooine-set Survival Mission, where two players must fend off waves of Imperial forces as members of the Rebel Alliance. And if that weren't enough, a third mode will also be featured. It's a brand-new game type called Drop Zone, which EA promises to detail at a later date.
There's been a lot of fear among fans that Battlefront would simply be Battlefield with a Star Wars skin. Fortunately, DICE has made it perfectly clear that the studio set out with the intention to create an experience that isn't too much like its military-minded FPS franchise. Couple that with the reveal of a dogfighting mode called Fighter Squadron, and you've got an experience that certainly distinguishes itself from the studio's prior work.
Star Wars Battlefront is slated for release on November 17. Will you be picking it up on day one? Which mode are you most excited to check out?
