Microsoft: Xbox One Is “Literally a Windows Device”

It's a official, Xbox One is a bona fide Windows 10 device. Well… that is, according to Microsoft's chief marketing officer Chris Capossela, anyway.

During this year's Citi Global Technology Conference (via Dualshockers), Capossela discussed the future of Windows 10, rattling off a number of devices built for the platform, including Xbox One. "[A] core power metric for us is Windows 10 devices. That’s not a PC statement," he explained. "That will be phones, that will be tablets, that will be laptops, that will be desktops, that will be big surface hubs, that will be Xboxes.

"Xboxes today run Windows, and so every time we sell an Xbox we’re actually creating a Windows active device that hopefully people [will] love it, it’s their gaming device, in their living room. It is not a separate animal. It is literally a Windows device."

The company is going all in on Windows 10, positioning it as the prime pillar that will drive the Big M to future success, and forseeing billions around the world using the OS in just a couple years. "Success for us, we’ve said with Windows 10, in two years we want to have a billion Windows 10 active devices, connected to Windows 10, using Windows 10 on a regular basis," Capossela said.

Do you think Windows 10 is the beginning of a new and successful future for Microsoft and the Xbox platform? I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all shakes out in the months and years to come.
