Earlier in the month Sony dropped the price of the PS4 for its first time since its launch in 2013. This, along with its already established momentum, has placed a huge amount of pressure on Microsoft for this holiday season. It might just be prepared to handle it, though.
Dell has published a website that offers a sneak peak at the deals it'll offer on this year's Black Friday. Among its excellent offerings is a featured Xbox One bundle that includes Fallout 4, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, and an extra controller for $299.
The current Xbox One bundles typically include the console along with one game for $349, making this a significant deal that goes well beyond the $329 Assassin's Creed Unity bundle that Microsoft offered last year.
Fallout 4 is expected to be one of the three biggest video game releases of 2015, with analysts projecting sales beyond 10 million to end the year. Microsoft has managed to strike an exclusive marketing deal with Bethesda for the game, along with working to get console-first mod support on the Xbox One. This will mark the first time that a Bethesda game has offered mods outside of PC, making it a special occasion that Microsoft hopes will draw attention.
Microsoft has a large number of bundles that it'll offer during the holidays, with its Fallout 4 and Rise of the Tomb Raider packages garnering the most attention. It is expected that consumers will have a variety of choices for what they want included with their console once Black Friday rolls around.
If this bundle is any indication, this Black Friday is going to be a great day for gamers looking to invest in new hardware and software.
