Bethesda joins Xbox and confirms exclusives games and Game Pass releases

Bethesda joins Xbox officially this week after the Head of Xbox Phil Spencer confirmed that the company’s deal with the publisher had been finalized. This will see Microsoft and the Elder Scrolls and Fallout studio working together in order to bring new projects to life, develop Xbox and Windows-exclusive games, and expand the Game Pass library of releases.

Is Bethesda Xbox exclusive now?

Phil Spencer confirmed that “some new titles” from Bethesda will be exclusive to Xbox and PC players, meaning that PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch owners will be left behind. While it seems that Bethesda will still produce multi-platform games, it’s unclear how far these exclusives will stretch and if it will include some of the publisher’s most notable franchises.

Although the publisher isn’t quite Xbox exclusive, for other console owners who enjoy the studio’s library of games, it seems that the Xbox Series X and PC will be the ideal platforms to get its latest releases.

Phil Spencer said in a statement via Xbox Wire:

“This is the next step in building an industry-leading first party studios team, a commitment we have to our Xbox community. With the addition of the Bethesda creative teams, gamers should know that Xbox consoles, PC, and Game Pass will be the best place to experience new Bethesda games, including some new titles in the future that will be exclusive to Xbox and PC players.”

What Bethesda games are coming to Game Pass?

Bethesda may be working on brand new games and exclusive releases for the Xbox platform, though before that some of the publisher’s back catalog is set to make its way to Game Pass.

It has yet to be confirmed which games will make their way to Game Pass, though it seems that The Evil Within will be one of the first. With a new listing posted on the Microsoft Store for the game and a release date of March 12, 2021, Xbox has noted that it will be bringing multiple Bethesda games to Game Pass later this week, indicating that we may see many more releases this Friday.

In more Xbox news, a recent wireless headset was released that included an ‘auto-mute’ option to prevent embarrassment.
