Uncharted 4 Lost a Major Talent During Its Story Turmoil Last Year, Not Just Amy Hennig

The loss of Amy Hennig during the production of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End has garnered a ton of attention by series fans during the past year. As a major contributor to the first three Uncharted games, her departure was seen as an eyebrow-raising circumstance that would have an impact on the next game, one way or another. But she wasn't the only person who left.

IGN uncovered while speaking to Alan Tudyk that he wasn't happy with the direction that Uncharted 4: A Thief's End's plot was taking, and decided that leaving was the best course of action.

He explained:

Todd Stashwick was in that as well who is in Con Man and he did the same thing I did which was 'yeah we're gonna leave now. Y'all are making some weird changes, we're gonna leave'. Sorry Nolan, we left you, we just walked away, we abandoned him.

Tudyk is well recognized for his role as Hoban Washburne in Firefly and Alpha in Dolhouse, making him a potentially significant loss for Naughty Dog's storytelling in what is said to be the final Uncharted game to feature the famous Nathan Drake.

Everything Naughty Dog has shown of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End up to this point has been impressive, albeit scripted. Its E3 2015 demo included complex action sequences that make it appear to be a spectacle similar to the prior two games. However, little has been said about the plot.

Amy Hennig was joined by creative director Justin Richmond and Sam voice actor Todd Stashwick when she left in March of 2014, along with Alan Tudyk. It's not the sort of thing that you hope to see happen during development of a game as significant as Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, but we won't know until it releases if the narrative is taking a turn for the better or worse.
