Tell GR: Are Free Games A Good Enough Apology?

Almost like clockwork, video game publishers have been apologizing quite a bit for its past releases. The PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight has reappeared on Steam after being pulled for performance issues in June.

As a way of compensation, Warner Bros. is offering the other games in the series—specifically Arkham Asylum GOTYArkham City GOTYArkham Origins, and Arkham Origins Blackgate—so long as you purchase the game before November 16, 2015 at 11:59pm or already have Batman: Arkham Knight in your library. These free titles will stealthily appear sometime in December.

Rocksteady is also compiling a "Community Challenge Pack" that will be distributed for free in January 2016, with Steam users getting the pack one week in advance.

Ubisoft also apologized for the shoddy release of Assassin's Creed Unity last year by offering free DLC. And they also apologized for not including a physical copy of Might & Magic Heroes VII in the Collector's Edition of the game, offering a free game from among a selection of five.

So are free games a good enough apology?
