It's one thing for a game to sell a ton of copies, and another to be one that has high viewership. Traditionally, highly competitive games like League of Legends and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive have been the kings of live streaming and video. However, in 2015 more gamers than ever tuned into sites like Twitch and YouTube, and many of them visited to watch videos from new titles.
YouTube has released its list of top 10 most popular games during 2015. Below are the results:
2. FIFA 16
3. Five Nights at Freddy's 3
4. Ark: Survival Evolved
5. Agar.io
6. Five Nights at Freddy's 4
7. Fallout 4
8. Mortal Kombat X
9. Batman: Arkham Knight
10. Until Dawn
Call of Duty taking the top spot isn't a big shocker, but some of the others are. FIFA 16's high ranking has a lot to do with its popularity in South America, while Fallout 4's was due to the sheer intrigue with it's content-rich world, as well as its mid-year reveal. Perhaps the most surprising entry is Until Dawn, which likely gathered its views from players who may not have wanted to complete the game again to get a different ending, or watched playthroughs to avoid paying $60 for the cinematic experience.
You may be wondering at this point what the top viewership videos were for gaming on YouTube for the year. YouTube also supplied that as a top 10 list, which is below:
