To start off the new year in brisk fashion, the Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) marathon is already on its second day and it's going swimmingly well so far. All for a good cause, speedrunners have gathered together to finish games in the Twitch livestream above with incredible mastery and are asking for donations in exchange.
At the time of this writing, over $142,000 has been raised with over 3,700 donations with an average donation of about $38 in total. All proceeds for AGDQ 2016 will go to the Prevent Cancer Foundation, and your donations will automatically be entered as tickets for various prizes so long as you meet the requirements. A list of potential prizes includes fightsticks, plenty of video game merch, and a Majora's Mask New 3DS.
The schedule for the livestream includes Disney's Aladdin, Bloodborne, The Lion King, Ori and the Blind Forest (which was meant to be speedrun, really), The Talos Principle, and SOMA. That's just a small handful of speedruns on offer until the marathon ends on January 9.
With any luck, the marathon will pull in as much as the $1.5 million from last year's AGDQ 2015.
