Ninja Theory Karate Chops Hopes for Enslaved Sequel

Ninja Theory will always have a special place in the hearts of PlayStation 3 owners (and Nick's, they got that Ninja-love thing going). After creating the mostly well-received PS3 exclusive, Heavenly Sword, the developer opted to go for multiplatform development of their next title, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. Enslaved didn't fare well sales-wise, which had fans wondering if Ninja Theory–who are currently working on a DMC, the Devil May Cry reboot–would give an Enslaved sequel a shot. In short, it's a no.

While speaking with EDGE magazine, Ninja Theory co-founder Tameem Antoniades explained in detail why there won't be an Enslaved 2 any time soon:

Enslaved should have done better… Right now we should have been doing a sequel and perfecting that sequel and doing what franchises do, which is get better over time.

[But] because that didn't happen we've not expanded to two teams like we intended to. So we've remained a smaller shop. But now we get another chance with DMC.

Enslaved never hit that magical one-million units sold mark, which kept profits low enough to prevent a sequel. Let's hope they know what they're doing with DMC, and Devil May Cry doesn't suffer a similar fate.
