You’ll Need An Always-Online Connection To Play For Honor Single-Player

For Honor has grown a reputation of being one of early 2017's most interesting games. Although Ubisoft has made some smart moves to make it as tasteful as possible, there is one area where it is certain to earn controversy.

In-line with recent industry trends, For Honor is confirmed to have an always online single-player campaign. As stated by the community manager, "some elements of progression, which is hosted online, are shared across story and multiplayer modes. Players will need to be connected to the internet at all times to play For Honor".

This news has prompted backlash from many gamers who believe that single-player experiences should be isolated, or at least have the option to be played without internet.

Our multiple sessions of hands-on with For Honor has been incredibly positive, especially in the case of online multiplayer which we have described as "hectic and intense". Although this negative turn of events—along with the dropping of split-screen multiplayer—has invited a negative tone, we still believe this is one of the hottest games to look forward to in 2017.
