Cloud9 Returns To Dota 2, Calls It a ‘Top eSports Title’

After more than a year of absence from the Dota 2 scene, Cloud9 is returning.

Cloud9's Dota 2 roster disbanded in Nov. 2015 after a disappointing performance at the Frankfurt Major where Cloud9 placed in the 9th-12th position. The team stated that this tournament "took a major toll on the morale and stability of the roster."

This new Dota 2 roster will not be the same Cloud9 roster of last Nov., though, since many of those players moved on to other teams. Cloud9 is signing the recently disbanded Imperial Dota 2 roster, including Marcus "Ace" Hoelgaard, Jon "13abyKnight" Anderson, Mikki "HeStEjoE-RoTTen" Morch Junget,Danny "NoiA" Morch Junget and Christopher "Ryze" Borregaard Winther.

In an interview with Redbull, Cloud9 CEO said that Dota 2 "is and will continue be a top esports title for the foreseeable future," saying that Cloud9 wants to be involved in the most-relevant titles.

These players will be mostly young and inexperienced, but they do have several wins in smaller tournaments and an impressive ~$30,000 USD win at the WESG Europe in 2016. There is no news on when we will see this new Cloud9 roster in action.
