Pillars Of Eternity 2: Deadfire Raising More Than $100,000 Per Hour

Counting down to the big announcement, Obsidian finally gave us our first glimpse of Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire.

Like the original game, Obsidian's sequel launched a crowdfunding campaign to fund Deadfire, which started at 10 a.m. PST. Now just past 1 p.m., the campaign has raised around $360,000 (and rapidly growing), clocking in at more than $100,000 per hour.

This unbelievable sum becomes more reasonable when you remember the success of the original Pillars of Eternity, which raised almost $4 million against its $1.1 million goal, becoming what was the highest-funded game at the time.

The current record holder is the upcoming Shenmue III at $6.3 million dollars. Deadfire doesn't have to continue at its current rate for long to beat that record, especially considering that the campaign will last until Feb. 24.

Regardless if its status among other crowd-funded games, Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is clearly a hot commodity, and this initial success is a positive sign for both the developers and the fans who would love to see the game get as much money to work with as possible.
