Ubisoft Sees Fiscal Year Growth Thanks To Rainbow Six Siege and Steep

Ubisoft has released its third-quarter fiscal year report to the public. Among its data points it shared that Steep performed slightly better than anticipated. Meanwhile, Watch Dogs 2 fell short of projections, but is now seeing positive momentum.

Steep was a particularly risky investment aimed at the long neglected snow sport market. Targeting this market with what many would consider a niche product appears to be paying off.

Ubisoft also shared that Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege has surpassed 15 million registered users, while Tom Clancy's The Division has seen an increase in engagement of 152% daily active users over the prior period.

Strong performance among these two Tom Clancy titles along with the debut of Steep and Watch Dogs 2 resulted in a revenue increase of 64.7% year over year. Ubisoft is now on trajectory for its 2017 fiscal year projections, with South Park: The Fractured But Whole being a key upcoming release for the company.

In the report, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege was heralded for its remarkable popularity more than a year after release, driving consistent revenue through box sales and microtransactions.
