Blizzard's wildly successful online card game Hearthstone has been popular since its 2014 release, but Blizzard has also hesitated to hand out official stats and numbers more often than not. That changed today, when the company announced that Hearthstone has reached the 70 million players milestone, a massive achievment for the game.
The news comes via the game's Battle.net blog, where it was revealed that in addition to reaching 70 million, the game also recently had its highest number of players playing simultaneously to date, coinciding with the release of its Journey to Un'Goro expansion. As stated, free card packs are up for grabs, surely a strategic move on the part of Blizzard to capitalize further on Hearthstone's record numbers (and, less cynically, an act of goodwill for both newbies and fans).
