Aussies Screwed Once Again in Steam Store

Hmm… what else can come up with to describe the picture below? A few sangas short of a picnic? I'd rather drag my balls through broken glass? Crikey?

Before you shake your fist at Gabe Newell, this pricing scheme actually has little to do with Steam. Game publishers are the one who set the regional prices and apparently there's no good reason why downloadable games cost so much more somewhere else. What? Is Australian bandwidth paved with gold?

At any rate, this is hardly anything new for Australia. The average recommended retail price for a newly released console title is right around $100, at that's in part by the retailers in Australia instead of the publishers. See? Plenty of blame to go around. Some of this has to do with the exchange rates as well as the transportation fees. I'm sure Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw has a rant somewhere in his brain about this.

It just makes me appreciate the current $60 price point here in the States (disregarding all the nonsense DLC).
