Kaz Hirai Taking over as Sony President, Stringer Still CEO

The Nikkei reports that Sony's executive lineup will be given a push and a prod in the coming months as Kazuo Hirai steps up as Sony's President while Howard Stringer will still remain CEO and Chairman. The changes will take place as soon as April.

With the interactive and online business doing well under the PlayStation moniker, this really shouldn't surprise anyone.

In other news, Sony PlayStation's mascot, Kevin Butler, was fired from his job with the company citing a lack of enthusiasm for all things Sony. GameRevolution's own Anthony Severino will be stepping into that position effective immediately. Hirai said of the move:

The best thing about Anthony is that we don't even have to pay him for his publicity work.
