Yesterdays massive online black-out, counting the likes of Wikipedia, N4G, Destructoid, and Google, was a resounding success if the latest news out of SOPA and PIPA's supporters are any indication.
Congressman Lamar Smith, writer and defender of SOPA announced today the postponement of any further action with the bill:
I have heard from the critics and I take seriously their concerns regarding proposed legislation to address the problem of online piracy. It is clear that we need to revisit the approach on how best to address the problems of foreign thieves that steal and sell American inventions and products.
Senator Harry Reid also said of the Protect IP Act, via tweet:
In light of recent events, I have decided to postpone Tuesday's vote on the PROTECT IP Act.
Now we know that these types of large-scale internet protests work. What we need to learn next is how to keep a watchful eye on the ignorance in congress and what it might do to threaten the livelihood of countless individuals.
