The House of Mouse has gone on some kind of buying spree. Last year they picked up Marvel and the line of superheroes any media conglomerate would only dream of. Today? The BBC reports that Disney's gotten ahold of controlling stake in UTV Ignition Entertainment.
This is primarily to increase the company's foothold in the Indian market, where UTV Ignition is based. Disney International Chair Andy Bird said of the acquisition:
Increasing our brand presence and reach in key international markets in a cornerstone of our growth strategy. This acquisition expands our footprint significantly and allows us to more effectively build, monetize and brand multi-platform franchises, and deliver a rich library of content to the world's second largest population…
… blah blah blah. None of this acquisition talk has anything to do with games like Quarrel, Swarm, El Shaddai, or even Deadly Premonition.
Ugh, jeez, can you imagine a Deadly Premonition ride at Disneyland? It'd be the worst ride that some people weirdly love.
