Mass Effect 3 Facebook App Unlocks In-Game Items

Easily the biggest release in the first half of this year, Mass Effect 3 is bound to make waves all over the internet. Microsoft and EA are teaming up to start with Facebook in an app called Mass Effect 3 Mission Command.

Essentially, the app grants access to your Facebook information to EA and then complete missions like recruiting friends, posting pickup lines, downloading the upcoming demo, or sharing movies where you pretend to be in the game.

This all sounds insane to me. I don't have a Facebook so you can understand how little sense this makes to me.

The app will give participants a shot at an Xbox Live avatar prop of the Normandy, an Xbox 360 with Kinect and a copy of the game. I thought for a bit that his was the whole Galaxy at War thing EA and Bioware have been talking about forever but… whatever, I guess I was wrong.

Mass Effect 3 lands on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC March 6th in America, March 8th in Australia, March 9th in Europe, and March 15th in Japan.
