Naughty Dog has gone from prolific franchise to super-mega franchise. Their games define the PlayStation consoles. Whether we're talking Crash Bandicoot or Nathan Drake, Naughty Dog are there creating exclusive PlayStation games that have helped Sony get to where it is today.
But did you know that the next game from the developer could have easily revisited their PS2 dynamic duo, Jak and Daxter? Evan Wells told Eurogamer just how close it got:
Let's go back and apply what we've learned with the Uncharted games to Jak & Daxter. It's one of the franchises that's near and dear to us and, in all honesty, we'd like to somehow honour.
Even if we felt like we were going to give the fans another Jak & Daxter, we felt we weren't going to give them the game that they wanted. We would end up limiting the direction that the company had this passion for while simultaneously not creating a game that fans wanted. We just realized we were going to just do everybody a disservice.
Oh, so… it wasn't very close at all… Almost sounds like a total afterthought. There's always an HD collection anyway. Plus, c'mon. A fourth Jak & Daxter game would mean that Jak would have to look like an even bigger douche than he did in 3.
