Rumor: Diablo III Releases On April 17th

Tired of waiting for Diablo III? I don't blame you, but if the latest rumor is correct you won't have to wait much longer before you get to kick *** and take names.

A few retailers in Italy have begun posting a release date for Diablo III which all show the same date of April 17th, and you know to never mess with the Italians. This date lines up perfectly with Incgamer's leak just a few days ago which stated several developing details about Diablo III, one of which was that the release date would be in April.

Whatever the case, I am led to believe that the official release date will be announced on March 5th for several reasons. For one, Blizzard will have a huge kiosk set-up at GDC on that date and the lead developer of Diablo III, Jay WIlson, will be there. Not only that, when asked on Twitter how close on a scale of 1-10 Blizzard is to announcing the release date for the game, Wilson posted "9".

After the delay earlier in the year all signs pointed to a release during the Summer, but it's looking like Blizzard have some mercy after all and Diablo III is further along in development than many suspected. The sooner the better, as the next World of Warcraft expansion, Mists of Pandaria, is coming out later this year and the last thing Blizzard needs is to compete with themselves.

April is going to be a dry month for gaming, so Diablo III will be a great addition if this rumor is true. Sounds like it's time to get your axe and battle armor ready because hell is coming, and it's coming soon.
