Zynga Acquires Draw Something Dev For Over $200 Million

OMGPOP's Draw Something has been topping app store charts for weeks now, accumulating over 35 million downloads between the paid and free versions of the game across iOS and Android. Even the Facebook version is a resounding success, reportedly tapping into 12.2 million daily active visitors.

This caught Zynga's eye, and you know Zynga's motto: If you can't beat 'em, copy 'em buy 'em.

While exact financial figures have not been released, All Things Digital reports that Zynga spent $180 million to buy the company, while paying another $30 million to retain the 40 OMGPOP staff members.

Zynga is a publisher and developing house specializing in social games on mobile platforms and Facebook, known best for their Facebook game, Farmville.

According to Gamasutra, OMGPOP's Pictionary clone, Draw Something, generates six figures of revenue per day, and in the past five weeks, the app has earned more money than the entire company's annual revenues for 2011.
