If you've played ModNation Racers before, chances are that you were put off by the extremely long loading screens. At times it felt like you spend more time loading than playing. Now that LittleBigPlanet Karting has been announced by the same development studio some gamers have been weary of the load times reappearing, but United Front Games is adamant about tackling the issue.
Senior Producer James Grieve assurred a user on the PlayStation Blog that loading times are being taken into account for LittleBigPlanet Karting and shouldn't be an issue come release. He posted:
the team here hears you load and clear on the importance of load times. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised when you get your hands on LBPK 🙂
With tons of user-created goodies such as levels and karts, cutting down load times is likely a huge hurdle. All of that content has to be streamed through the servers to each player before a match, and that's where optimization comes into play.
Given how fun of a concept LittleBigPlanet Karting sounds, as long as it's accessible and doesn't let loading or glitches get in the way it could be one of the best pick-ups of 2012 for people looking for local multi-player.
