Capcom Cancels Mega Man Universe

Mega Man. The very first game that brought enough anger and frustration to me as a young child, to where I smashed, bit, even threw my NES controller across the room. Though, as I carefully honed my pew-pewing skills, a love affair would blossom – one that's lasted over two decades and close to 30 different sequels and spin-offs. So when I heard that Capcom would be taking the franchise in a "revolutionary" new direction with Mega Man Universe, I couldn't contain my excitement.

Imagine my disappointment this morning when I heard that Mega Man Universe would be canceled, citing "various reasons" for the decision. Capcom apologized, which was cool and all – but this is definitely not what we had in mind for Capcom to kick more ass.

Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune left Capcom late last year. His departure could be a strong reason for Capcom's decision to pull the plug on this fresh idea for a very stagnant franchise.
