Oh-no! Yoshinori Ono Stepping Away From Fighting Games For A While

Yoshinori Ono, the man behind the reemergence of Street Fighter-based fighting games in recent years, will be taking a step back from his position, handing the lead on Street Fighter to another Capcom employee, and taking on more of an advisory role.

The news stems from recent health problems the iconic developer suffered due to heavy promotion of Street Fighter X Tekken throughout Asia. Given the amount of games the man has been responsible for over the past few years, it's not a surprise that his grueling schedule has gotten to him.

Although Ono may be down, he is not out, adding that after his break, he "will be thinking about the future of fighting games". Let's hope that is a future with Ono at the helm of a new Darkstalkers game… but after he's had time to recuperate and rest.

Get well, Ono-san.
