Dark Souls PC To Have “10 To 20 Percent” More Content

It would be an understatement to say that From Software and Namco Bandai were tight-lipped about Dark Souls on PC. After announcing that it would actually happen (praise the fans!) at the keynote for Namco Bandai Global Gamers Day, in the form of a Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, they were immediately a broken record. We could have asked what their favorite color was and they would have said, "Hey, did you know that Dark Souls was coming out for PC?"

Luckily, the roundtable discussion they had with us was more fruitful than that. They were still extremely vague, but the information they gave was still pertinent, especially that the extra content they are planning for the PC version would be about "10 to 20 percent" more than the console versions. This immediately prompted us to ask whether the loyal fans on console will be getting the bonus content as well. They wouldn't say, but I expect that it will eventually, probably in the form of DLC (free or otherwise).

Going beyond the original game, the bonus content will include about three locations, three to four extra bosses, and few additional NPCs. All the bosses will have special equipment drops, and there will be a special PvP stage that, once again, the developers aren't talking about. One screenshot they showed us highlighted an epically large dragon. I joked that it was the Pendant Dragon. They laughed, and then stared at me for a couple of seconds.

The only other information that was left unmentioned is that the developer demoing the game was playing the PC build using an Xbox 360 controller. In fact, they recommended that players use a controller instead of the keyboard.

As reported earlier by Daniel, Dark Souls will be coming out on August 24th of this year, though as Keri noted, there's already a petition against the preposed Windows Live version.
