Dark Souls PC Online Servers

Dark Souls PC Servers Will Be Returning, Starting with Dark Souls 3

The Dark Souls online servers have been down on PC since the start of the year, but that may not be the case for much longer. According to developer FromSoftware, the servers are currently in the process of being restored and the first game to get online multiplayer back will be Dark Souls 3.

The Dark Souls online servers have been down since February when a security exploit was discovered that allowed game invaders to take over their target’s PC using Remote Code Execution. Publisher Bandai Namco had said the servers wouldn’t return until after the release of Elden Ring, but over three months have passed since that game was released. In a statement to PC Gamer, FromSoftware confirmed they are still working on bringing the servers back to life for the three games:

“We are currently in the process of restoring the online servers for the Dark Souls series on PC. We plan to restore online service for each game progressively, bringing back servers for Dark Souls 3 once we complete the necessary work to correct the problem.

We will provide additional updates as soon as the restoration schedule is finalized. We want to thank all our players for your patience and understanding as we work to fix this issue.”

The statement makes it sound like the servers will be reintroduced game by game starting with Dark Souls III. There is no timeline for this work to be completed, but at least we know the developer is actively working on the problem.

In other news, V Rising will be getting content that includes some of players’ darkest dreams when it leaves Early Access, although several content updates are planned for beforehand. Elsewhere, the Nintendo Switch Online 7-day trial has returned to the eShop and is available to players even if they have activated a trial previously.
