EA announced that Crysis 3 will release in Spring 2013 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Sorry, it's not much more specific than that, but I guess we will take what we can get.
Crysis 3 is set in 2047 with New York sealed up inside a dome by the Cell Corporation. Under the dome, the city has morphed into an "urban rainforest teeming with overgrown trees, dense swamplands, and raging rivers" that is split into seven dangerous environments known as the Seven Wonders. I had to read that section more than once, because I swore it said seven districts, and I thought maybe there would be Hunger Games. The fact that Prophet wields a composite bow didn't help my initial read, either.
Crysis 3 is already up for pre-order, and that includes pre-order incentives! The blanket pre-order incentive includes a bonus XP boost, a unique bow skin, and three exclusive dog tags (please, please let one be Mass Effect!). There will also be three retailer-specific multiplayer pack incentives. No word yet as to which packs will go where, but here are what you can expect:
- Stalker Pack – Early multiplayer access to the semi-auto Jackal shotgun, including a unique silencer, weapon skin, and two Stalker-themed in-game dog tags
- Overkill Pack – Early multiplayer access to the Typhoon assault weapon and skin and two Overkill-themed dog tags
- Predator Pack – Early multiplayer access to the Feline submachine gun and camo
