Yesterday, Amazon UK opened pre-orders for the Wii U at the surprisingly low £199 price tag, despite an estimate from Japan's Nikkei that Nintendo's upcoming console will be set at around £250. Unlike other online retailers like ShopTo, Amazon's listing did not have a "price is subject to change" disclaimer.
However, Amazon UK has sent out an email today from their Customer Service Department notifying pre-order customers that the Wii U listing was posted in error and thus all pre-orders have been cancelled:
We're writing to you regarding your order for the Nintendo Wii U console. Your order has been cancelled as this product was listed on Amazon.co.uk in error. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. You will not be charged for your order.

That's not too surprising, but it is disappointing. Nonetheless, it would seem that the £199 is an utter fantasy.
