Is Batman Going Back To Before Arkham Asylum?

WB Games will apparently take Batman back to the time before Arkham Asylum for the next game in Rocksteady's Arkham series, if reports from Variety are to be believed. In an article posted centering around DC Entertainment's push to bring more of their core heroes together in the media, Variety states that they've learned from sources that Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment will bring a few of them together in the next Arkham game.

Marc Graser writes:

The new, highly stylized title is being developed as a prequel that revolves around Batman's first meeting with the Joker. It's based on the Silver Age of DC's comicbooks from the 1950s when the Caped Crusader teamed with other heroes like Superman and founded the Justice League of America.

The new game would likely bow in 2014 at the earliest. The title was not discussed during the E3 games conference in June, with WBIE focusing on unveiling "Injustice."

While a prequel sounds all well and good, I'm wary of Batman ditching the "Arkhamverse" in favor of more campy 50s-waters. Yes I know there's a strong difference between the 50s comics and the TV show starring Adam West, but it's a hard line to cross as a fan of what Batman has been doing in modern times.
