Hey you! Get out of here! This isn't information you're supposed to know! Why am I talking to you internet? Shut up and quit listening to this insider information!
….
OK, still here? Are you as hungry for information about Nintendo's latest console as we are? The latest rumor comes from a translation of a French gaming news site which claims that the Wii's successor is currently codenamed Project Cafe. Not as snappy as Revolution or Dolphin, but still secretive. The same French site has a track record of getting the goods on these projects in advance. They previously reported the hardware specs for Sony's Next Generation Portable.
On the hardware side, Project Cafe is rumored to resemble the Xbox 360 with a three-core IBM PowerPC CPU. Nintendo's obviously not in the beauty contest, instead focusing on how games play. So what's up with Project Cafe's controller?
01net reports that the new controller will feature a six-inch single-input touchscreen. Whether the touchscreen is capacitive or not remains to be seen heard. The controller also features some expected input buttons, a front facing camera, and can function as the sensor bar for those old, outdated Wiimotes you have lying around.
Yes, that means the new console will feature built-in backwards compatibility. Still, I'm daydreaming of GBA connectivity and the possibility of some 3DS connectivity. Why didn't the Wii do more with all of those DS units Nintendo sold?
