Did you know you can beat Prey in under 20 minutes? We didn't know, either.
Prey's fondness for speed running has become clear after a YouTuber by the name DraQu published a world record speed run clocking at 19:34. That's from the start of the game to the moment the final cutscene plays, in case you're wondering.
Don't let that deter you from buying the game if you think it's interesting, though. As expressed in our review, on average it takes about 20 to 25 hours to complete Prey's sci-fi adventure provided you beat it the "normal" way. But really, what is normal anyway?
Well, in this case normal is actually engaging with the story, not apexing corners to get from point A to point B as fast as possible, and visiting more than just a couple areas. In other words, actually playing the game.
Frankly, seeing speed runs show up so soon after launch is a bit ridiculous, but who are we to judge? A game like Prey exists to entertain. Nothing more, nothing less. If that entertainment is derived from skipping 98% of the game and just flying through it like a bat out of hell, then so be it. Just please don't run to Metacritic afterward and give the game a 0/10 review saying it's too short. That'd be disingenuous.
