Assassin’s Creed Origins Leaked Ahead Of E3, Screenshot And Details Included

An anonymous user on Reddit has supposedly leaked this year's Assassin's Creed release, detailing the game through several descriptive comments and a never before seen gameplay screenshot.

The screenshot in question shows a character on a small-sized boat sailing toward a shore where other boats, a windmill, and a vast landscape await. A quest titled "Assassinate the Crocodile" with the description "Follow Shadya to Khenut's villa" are shown on the top left of the screen.

Development is reportedly being spear-headed by the team responsible for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, a game that stands as the third most critically acclaimed title across the franchise's more than one dozen releases. Both titles appear to share similar qualities, including an ancient setting and boat travel.

A few details accompanied the screenshot, including the title's name: Assassin's Creed Origins. This supposedly alludes to the game's return to the series' roots where gameplay was more minimalist, and there was a greater emphasis of exploration.

The period that the game is set in hasn't been shared, although the leaker did state that the protagonist will jump to various "different times" in its effort to tell a grand story.

Investigation by users in the comment section suggests that the game will be set during 2494 BC~ Egypt when Khenut the Queen of Egypt ruled during the Fifth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom.

The leaker also stated that the game will run on a "revamped version of the Anvil Engine", an engine that the vast majority of recent Ubisoft releases have utilized.

Although this leak seems credible, there are a lot of details yet to be uncovered. All signs point toward an E3 debut during mid-June.
