This morning, King of Blocks Markus Persson has ceremoniously revealed via Twitter that Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has reached a spectacular benchmark of 3 million downloads.
That's an incredible statistic for a title released on May 7. After selling a million units in only five days at launch, it was able to carry that momentum for 2 million downloads in approximately the next two months. Constant updates have helped as well, with patch v1.73 going live last week.
At $20 per download, that's at least $60 million right there for Microsoft and Mojang to share. If I was an employee at Mojang, I would be incredibly excited for the game's longevity (as well as the prospect of Notch handing out another $3 million to his loyal subjects).
