In case you missed the gazillion tweets on Twitter, BioWare has officially announced (via press release) that Star Wars: The Old Republic will go free-to-play this fall.
Free-to-play-ers can experience SWTOR for free up to level 50, which does include all eight classes available to subscribers. There are some restrictions, however, but BioWare says that all of these restrictions can be removed with microtransactions.
If you're already a subscriber and you're wondering what perks you'll receive for being loyal, BioWare has not forgotten you. Subscribers will automatically receive an allowance of Cartel Coins, the store currency, allowing them to buy customizable gear and other toys that the commoners won't have access to. If you sign up before SWTOR goes F2P, then you'll still receive this in-game windfall.
