Blizzard released today the first Overwatch patch in what is sure to be a quick series of patches that will bring new content and balance changes. Today’s Overwatch patch has brought on much of the new promised content, including both the Team Deathmatch and Free-for-All Deathmatch game modes and the new Widowmaker-focused map Chateau Gaillard.
In addition, this patch has brought on balance changes to Junkrat. Junkrat is a common hero picked in lower-skilled quickplay matches but virtually disappears as you climb the latter, often being considered a throw or troll pick in competitive mode. That will likely change as now Junkrat has two uses on his mine, and his ultimate ability, the Riptyre, now moves much more quickly so as to be harder to shoot. This patch also buffed Roadhog, Widowmaker and Orisa, with changes that have been on the PTR for a few weeks now.
On the horizon for Overwatch is two new changes to D.Va and Mercy, with D.Va being able to deal much more sustained damage and Mercy getting a complete rework of her ultimate ability which, while in need of changes, is the right move for the game.
The patch is quite large, so make sure you start to install it well before you want to play!
