Blizzard Job Listing Points to New Overwatch Game

A new job listing posted by Blizzard has indicated that the developer is working on a brand new Overwatch game.

Blizzard is seeking a Generalist Artist Intern to help them develop an “unannounced project,” according to their careers page, with the details of the role being of particular interest to Overwatch fans. The job description reads:

“An unannounced project at Blizzard is seeking an intern to help create a wide range of assets to help bring our game to life.  You will work closely with our concept, environment and character teams to create hard surface and organic props, weapons and possibly characters that are both detail-oriented and consistent with the art style we’ve defined.”

In one of the “recommended talents,” Blizzard writes: “Knowledge and understanding of the Overwatch universe.” This strongly suggests that the next game is going to take its cues from Overwatch, with it perhaps seeing its cast of characters take on a brand new genre. While Blizzard has already inserted Overwatch characters into the MOBA Heroes of the Storm, judging from this job description it seems that they are looking to create a game based around the Overwatch universe, rather than one that also happens to feature Overwatch characters.

While there is no other information pertaining to this unannounced project, we could very well receive more news about it at this year’s Blizzcon event, set to take place on November 3rd and 4th. What direction do you think Blizzard is headed in with this new Overwatch game? Let us know in the comments below.
