I really, really like the PlayStation Vita. It's one of my favorite devices. I tend to take it everywhere I go and play it any free second I have. In particular, one of my favorite features of the system is the way it can be put to sleep like my phone, all without losing my game state. The 3DS can do that too, but for some reason I get more from it with the Vita.
Stuff like that made the new Sony handheld an attractive deal to 2.2 million consumers. That's how many Vita units have been sold through since launch. That's just over 400,000 a month units since the worldwide launch in Japan.
This new total is less sold through than the 3DS in just its first few weeks on the market. It was about this far into the hardware's life that Nintendo 3DS dropped the price of the 3DS from $249.99 to $169.99. Are drastic steps ahead of the Vita?
