In the wake of massive amounts of controversy surrounding Star Wars Battlefront 2, there is no blaming consumers that wish to get a refund for their pre-order of the upcoming first-person shooter that releases this Friday. Unfortunately for anyone wanting to, EA has now made it much harder to receive a refund for the game.
Before now, you could simply navigate over to the official EA support site and fill out that form to request a refund for any game like Star Wars Battlefront 2 that you’ve recently purchased. The only stipulations for the refund being that requests must be made “within 24 hours after you first launch the game, within seven days from your date of purchase, or within seven days from the game’s release date if you pre-ordered, whichever comes first.”
Signing in now with your EA account and attempting to fill out the form for a refund request will instead redirect you to speak with a representative via live chat to cancel your Star Wars Battlefront 2 order. That isn’t an unusual situation, as other companies require you to speak with a support agent to receive a refund, however, it was a swift shift in the midst of all of the loot box and “pay-to-win” controversy surrounding Battlefront 2.

It’s made worse by the fact that because of this sudden change and the rest of the Battlefront 2 issues, the chat is swarmed with people queued up to speak with customer service. This has led to several consumers reporting that the wait time for live chat is over an hour. This mainly affects PC pre-orders, so we recommend Xbox One or PS4 users to reach out to Microsoft and Sony directly for refund requests.
It’s worth noting that this refund change affects not only Star Wars Battlefront 2, but any game that you purchase right now through EA’s Origin PC service like The Sims 4. We will update this with any comment we receive from EA regarding refunds, or if the refund situation is changed.
