2K Games announced the Borderlands 2 Season Pass today. The pass will be available for $29.99 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC when the game launches Sept. 18.
According to 2K, “Once purchased, the Borderlands 2 Season Pass enables gamers to download all of the announced add-on content campaigns for free as they become available.” Oh, it’s free? In that case… Oh, wait. Never mind.
The campaigns will also be available individually for $9.99 on all three networks as they are released. As the season pass is only thirty bucks, it is cheaper in the long rung to spring for it than to pay for each download individually.
Though I must ask: Why do we, the gamers, still find this acceptable? Why are we paying extra for content that is available from day one, or very nearly day one?
2K also reminds us that “gamers who pre-order Borderlands 2 from participating retailers will gain access to the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club, allowing them to download the Gearbox Gun Pack, a Golden Key, the Vault Hunter's Relic and an all-new fifth character class, the Mechromancer.”
So don’t forget to give your local retailer those interest-free loans they love so much! There absolutely won’t be a copy for you if you don’t!
