The Battlefield 1 Apocalypse expansion is coming much sooner than anyone expected. The Turning Tides DLC just launched last month with the second half releasing before the end of this month. Typically there are at least a few months between Battlefield 1 DLC releases, with there being a six-month gap between They Shall Not Pass and In the Name of the Tsar, and three months between In the Name of the Tsar and the first half of Turning Tides. This time it looks like there’ll only be a month gap between DLC releases with Battlefield 1 Apocalypse.
Battlefield 1 Apocalypse will feature five new maps including Passchendaele, River Somme, and Caporetto. In Passchendaele, you’ll have to fight through the mudding countryside of Belgium, turned wasteland by artillery fire. Caporetto has the Italian and Austro-Hungarian armies facing off in mountain trenches near the Isonzo River. Finally, the River Somme will involve the French defending the wheat fields near the Somme River which have been churned my constant shelling into a hellish, barren place.
The other two new maps releasing with Battlefield 1 Apocalypse are for a new mode called Air Assault and are titled London Calling and Razor’s Edge. Unfortunately, we don’t have details on what this new mode will be like, but we do know those two new maps will only be available in that mode.
There’ll be the usual bevy of new vehicles and weapons too. You’ll get the chance to use new melee weapons like a meat cleaver and prybar. There will be six new guns with Apocalypse also, one of which is the Chauchat Ribeyerolles SMG. Assault troopers will finally get a counter to aircraft with the release of the AA Rocket Gun, which will hopefully add some much-needed balance to the game.
We don’t have a definite release date for Battlefield 1 Apocolypse yet. It will debut sometime in February for Premium Pass owners, and you can be you’ll see it on the CTE soon.
